Generational Equity, an advisor to privately held and family-owned businesses for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic growth initiatives, announced the acquisition of a majority interest in the industrial automation experts Global Systems Inc. of Decatur, Ala., by Mitchell Industries LLC, for an undisclosed amount.

Global co-owner Nickie Fox requested Generational Equity's services to find a capital investor willing to contribute capital and share in the growth of the company. The M&A advisor placed proposals before a number of likely investors and attracted considerable interest. Guy Mitchell and his associates with Mitchell Industries LLC showed strong interest early in the process. Generational Equity's Managing Director Sam Sumner of Birmingham, Ala., helped the parties identify and comply with tax requirements and other special considerations for a deal of this type.

Mitchell's management team saw Global's potential for growth was a good fit with its long-term acquisition plans. Generational Equity's Managing Director Sumner said Global Systems was an attractive investment for a wide range of potential buyers, "But it was clear, based on our experience, that our client would bring strong growth in return for a capital investor, particularly one looking to diversify its portfolio." Sumner said the deal unfolded as a progressive acquisition over a period of years for an undisclosed price — a method that suited the buyer and appealed to the best interests of the client. Global Systems Inc. specializes in the design and manufacture of automated equipment primarily employed in cellular manufacturing operations, precision production machining services for industry and PLC-based control systems for industrial facilities. A staff of mechanical designers, electrical designers, programmers, assembly technicians and a full machine shop provides its customers with turn-key automation solutions.
