Steve Carter is a Senior Business Strategist for Generational Consulting Group. He is a senior industry leader with demonstrated success and breadth of experience at several Fortune 100 companies, a large private equity-backed firm, a minority-owned small business, and the U.S. Army. He has successfully led major strategic transformations and has also driven detailed operational results across all nodes of the supply chain.

Steve served in senior supply chain leadership roles at a $500B retailer (Wal-Mart), a $3B athletic footwear and apparel distributor (Reebok), a $72B retailer (Target), a $40B industrial manufacturer (Honeywell International), an $8B manufacturer of farm and construction equipment (Case New Holland), and a $1B private equity-backed pet retail chain with 1,100 stores in the US and Canada (Pet Retail Brands). His most recent role was as Chief Operating Officer at a $20M minority-owned student transportation services company based in Minneapolis (Metropolitan Transportation Network).

Steve has successfully implemented transformational strategic initiatives, driven process management disciplines, led innovative transportation and warehouse operational improvements, improved cash flow management, and developed highly effective leadership development cultures and engaged teams in the organizations he has led. The result of these improvements is hundreds of millions of dollars in savings and better service to customers, as measured by higher on-time and in-full order performance, fewer errors, higher GMROI and inventory turns, and faster response to customer and operational issues.

Steve retired from the Army as a Colonel after a combined 23 years of active duty and reserve component service, and currently serves as an Army Reserve Ambassador for the state of Minnesota. Steve is a graduate of the Wharton School (MBA), University of Pennsylvania (Master of Systems Engineering), and the United States Military Academy at West Point (BS in Engineering). He played rugby at an international level for over 10 years and on the Army Football Team at West Point. He has also served on multiple industry association and non-profit boards of directors. For relaxation Steve enjoys golf, travel, exercise, serving his church and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. He lives in Plymouth, MN with his wife and has two grown children.

Manufacturing & Production – industrial safety and productivity solutions, personal protective equipment, scanning technology, voice-directed picking solutions, workplace footwear, farm and construction tractors, combines, and agricultural equipment.

Wholesale – convenience store fulfillment, athletic footwear and apparel.
