Eric Sandberg is a Senior Business Strategist for Generational Consulting Group. He brings 30 years of experience leading the commercialization of technologies for companies, ranging in size from start-up ventures to large corporations, in senior leadership roles that include President & CEO, Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Business Officer.
Eric’s leadership experiences include:
- Chief Commercial Officer at Axogen (AXGN) – grew revenue from $84M to $128M in 3-1/2 years leading 175 professionals in marketing, US & international sales, sales training, surgeon education, health economics & reimbursement, business intelligence, commercial operations, and customer care
- CEO of Visura Technologies – partnered with physician founder to build a start-up medical device company
- Chief Business Officer of Inomagen Therapeutics – partnered with physician founder to build a start-up biological (gene) therapy company
- President & CEO of Tangent Medical – led venture-funded company with spin-out technology from U of Michigan that sold to a strategic buyer
- SVP Sales at CardioDx – led venture-funded company’s market introduction of a novel genomic diagnostic test
- Executive Director at Russell Reynolds – at a leading retained executive search firm, recruited CEOs, Presidents and VPs for medical device companies
- Guidant Corporation (acquired by Boston Scientific) – led marketing launch of the company’s first coronary stent system generating $700M revenue in 15 months; led an 80-person sales team that grew annual sales to $250M
- Eli Lilly and Company – early in career, held engineering and business development roles
- Served as a volunteer advisor for new healthcare technology ventures with Chicago Innovation Mentors at MATTER
Eric earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science magna cum laude in mechanical engineering from Bradley University. He and his wife of 32 years live in Wheaton, IL and have three adult children who are starting careers and families. Through the years, the Sandberg’s have enjoyed living in Boston, Indianapolis, the Bay Area, Atlanta, Tampa and the Greater Chicago Area. Eric is a sports enthusiast and avid Chicago sports fan.
