First General Services acquired by FirstOnSite
Generational Equity, an advisor to privately-held and family-owned business for exit planning, business valuation, and mergers-and-acquisition services, has announced the sale of its client, First General Services (FGS), to FirstOnSite Restoration L.P., the largest independent disaster restoration company in Canada. First General Services is a Saskatchewan-based general contractor providing sole-source property damage restoration and construction repair services to both residential and commercial properties. FGS was founded in 2002 as a merger between two existing companies in the industry, one that specialized in emergency restoration and the other that specialized in construction repair services.
Managing Director Stephen Crisham and Lori Galloway, along with Ted Rattenberry, Generational Equity’s Affiliate for Western Canada, led Generational Equity’s deal team in marketing and negotiating the transaction. First General Services began looking for a strategic buyer in June of 2008. At the time, FirstOnSite was already in the planning to undertake an acquisition in Saskatchewan, where they were presently not represented in Canada. “First General Services has excellent potential for growth and strong core management team,” said Stephen Crisham, the Generational Equity managing director in the transaction. “This is a strategic transaction between two companies that we know will complement each other well, and both are now ready to move forward and grow.” The transaction completed a little over a year after First General Services entered the market.
