Generational Equity, an advisor to privately-held and family-owned businesses for exit planning, business valuation, and mergers and acquisition services, has announced the acquisition of GPL LLC Laboratories–Tennessee, LLC in Johnson City by Microbac Laboratories, Inc. of Pittsburgh, PA.

Established in 1974, GPL Laboratories- Tennessee, LLC provides sampling and testing services, including drinking water programs, NPDES / Pretreatment and POTW programs, storm water discharge monitoring, landfill monitoring programs, underground storage tank removal and maintenance projects, solid waste and hazardous waste disposal programs, bioassay monitoring projects, and air monitoring programs. The environmental monitoring programs of GPL Laboratories–Tennessee, LLC assist clients in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. GPL Laboratories-Tennessee, LLC is housed in a 30,000 square foot facility that includes seven separate sectional laboratories.

Microbac Laboratories is one of the most diversified commercial testing and analytical laboratory groups. For over 40 years, Microbac has provided numerous certified testing services, including: environmental, food chemistry, food microbiology, microbiology, nutritional labeling, pharmaceuticals, nutraceutical/vitamins, cosmetics, consumer products, agrochemical, mechanical, biofuel, and physical/failure testing. Managing Director’s Douglas Smith and Jim Russell led Generational Equity’s deal team in marketing and negotiating the transaction. “Inspite of the challenging current economic environment, GPL Laboratories-Tennessee has an excellent reputation in the industry and the acquisition helps to expand the testing capabilities of Microbac in this region.,” said Russell.
